Well, the phase #1 of recycling my plastics is going well. I have found a few more plastic containers that I can recycle, and that is good news. I am also noticing a difference already this week when I took my trash out. Phase #2 is proving to me more difficult than I had expected.
When I took my trash out this week, I had almost half the trash than I normally take out. It may have been a little more than half than normal, but I have definitely noticed a huge decrease in what I put out there. I am starting to see why people recycle.
I really want to get my old computer equipment out of my basement. I have a lot of old stuff down there that is far enough out of date that it pretty much won't work for any decent purpose. I have been looking on the Internet to find a place that will take them. I have been directed to donating them to charity, but, these are not working computers at all. Just parts. And a couple monitors.
I will just continue to see what I can find. I know their are retail outlets that take old computers, and I have not called them, yet. I am afraid they will not take what I have, for the same reason that the stuff I have is no good for charity. I can hear some of you saying, 'Brad, just donate it anyway, they will take care of it'. My fear of that is that they will just throw it away. That is what I am trying to avoid, remember? I don't want to hand it off to someone who will just put it in a landfill. So, I continue my quest to find a proper way to dispose of my old stuff.
I have also been looking at ways to save me gas in my truck. One thing I have been able to do, during this time of year, is to ride my motorcycle. That gets far better gas mileage than the truck. Less emissions, and much more fun to ride anyway! I have been good about not going through drive-thrus, and consolidating my errands into one trip.
